Dessia had been very aware of Penzhina in the area ever since she purchased Hennessy. Knowing that the potential was there to produce some awesome horses along the line of Amber Satin, she talked to Leslie Lloyd off and on about her and admired her foals by Amurath Baikal. Penzhina was bred by Jerry Vanier and brought to Canada by Joyce Coons in 1988 as a 7 year old in foal to First Class. Prior to this Penzhina had had 3 foals, one by Strike and 2 by Medalion. She carried one foal by Three-B Rashiek for Joyce who then sold her to Leslie Lloyd who bred her to Amurath Baikal for 4 foals. The oldest of these is Aaristocat who is excelling in Endurance & Competitive Trail. Not only has she been bred to illustrious sires, she is by one of the best known and loved Russian stallions imported to the US, *Muscat. Triple Crown winner of the coveted Scottsdale, US and Canadian National Stallion Championship titles. Leslie made Dessia an offer she couldn't refuse and Penzhina came to AES to be bred to Hennessy. The resulting colt is everything expected and shows lots of promise as a performance horse. Penzhina is a very sweet mare, she is now 23 years old and pregnant with a foal by Ibn Bee. She has been used in the lesson program since she weaned Farley last summer (2003) and is several of the kids' favorite mount - especially Holly's!
